Gov. JJ hosted shooting competition

IN order to promote “shooting” as a sport for all ages, the 1st Gov. JJ Romualdo Shooting Competition was held at Tupsan Pequeño Shooting Range last July 28, 2007.

The competition was sponsored by the Provincial Government of Camiguin in cooperation with Camiguin Island Lodge No. 296.

Gov. Jurdin Jesus M. Romualdo, who is himself a top caliber shooter, said shooting is unlike other sports such as basketball, volleyball and swimming for it requires precision, power and speed. It also develops discipline, mental alertness, as well as physical fitness of the person.

“This shooting competition is also an opportunity to show the general public the safe and responsible way of handling guns and we will always ensure the public of their safety during the competion,” the Governor said.

According to Range Owner Ben dela Plaza, the winners were: High Capacity- 1st Place: Pet Salcedo; 2nd Place: Jun Tia; 3rd Place: PInsp. Richard Catipay; Single Track- 1st Place: XJ Romualdo; 2nd: Julius Aclan; 3rd: Engr. Ben dela Plaza; Team Competition- 1st Place: Pet Salcedo’s group; 2nd Place: Gov. Romualdo’s group; 3rd Place: Dandan Romualdo’s group. Executive category was won by Vice Governor Leo Lasacar while the Man to Man category went to Dandan Romualdo. (Homer R.
