Municipal Council passes 23-million 2008 Budget

THE 17th Municipal Council under Vice Mayor Rogerio C. Acle approved the P23-million budget that Mayor Alex R. Jajalla had proposed for the operation of the municipal government of Mahinog for 2008.

The P23,670,351.55 budget for 2008 is based on the LGU revenue projections. Of this, P20,671,495.00 or 87.33% of the municipality’s income derived from Internal Revenue Allotment (IRA). Local revenue is estimated at P3,000.000.00.

The General Public Sector gets the biggest chunk with P13,447,803.80, an increase of P1,370,570.32 over last year’s budget.

Economic services gets P4,294,859.00 or 18.14% of the total budget. This amount goes to agricultural and fishery projects, tourism development and other economic activities.
Health and Social services get P2,984,732.00, or 12.62%. Reserve for calamity - P1,183,574.75 and other purposes - P1,759,382.00.

Major features of the next year’s budget is the implementation of the present administration’s A.L.E.X development agenda focusing on agricultural productivity, local government excellence, enabling people with livelihood opportunities and express delivery of basic services.

Mayor Jajalla, in his budget message, stressed that the 2008 budget is not only allocation of government money, but an instrument to uplift the living conditions of the people of Mahinog. (Homer R. Jajalla)
