Rico Jim A. Ranara is new SK federation president in Mahinog

MAHINOG, Camiguin (3 December) – IN an election held this morning at the sangguniang bayan session hall, Rico Jim A. Ranara won the presidency of the Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) Federation in the municipality of Mahinog, Camiguin.

Sixteen year old Rico Jim A. Ranara is the youngest son of municipal engineer Rico L. Ranara and the former Icil Alvares of barangay San Miguel. He ran unopposed for the position.

Ranara, a 4th year high school student of Columbia St. Michael’s Parish High School will replace outgoing federation president Jorene G. Salvaleon.

He will sit as ex officio member of the sangguniang bayan representing the youth sector in the municipal council of Mahinog.

In his acceptance speech, Ranara thanked all SK chairmen who supported him. He said he will do his best to prove himself worthy of the position.

“I would not make any promises, but I will try my level best to do my work as federation president,” the newest ex-officio municipal councilor said.

He said he will spearhead activities which are considered of fundamental importance to youth development particularly those activities that will enhance and develop the various skills and talents of the youth.

When asked what particular project that comes into his mind, he replied, he will first organize and conduct sports activities during this coming Christmas season to be held at the municipal gym.

Vice President: Jan Neil U. Acero, barangay Pontod.

Secretary: Lenie T. Namocatcat of Tubod.

Treasurer: Mary Sweetsell B. Lagunay of Hubangon.

Auditor: Venusto R. Abao, Jr. of Catuhogan.

PRO: Jane Rose B. Labadan of Poblacion.

Sgt. at Arms: Shannon John T. Fabre of San Roque.

Mayor Alex R. Jajalla (below) administered the oath of office of the newly-elected SK federation officers in a simple ceremony right after the election.


The Provincial Federation election will be held on Friday, December 10. The SK National elections will be held on January 7, 2011.
